| | After more than two decades of meat-free eating, and several published books, I consider myself quite an expert on vegetarian and vegan issues. But this email comment stumped me. | | Can vegans eat yeast? Todd wrote into say that vegans who eat yeast are hypocrites. He asked: Why does the life of a cow, fish or bee have more authenticity than that of the millions of yeast cells that are used to produce a bottle of wine? Well, Todd, I don't pretend to be a moral authority for all vegans, but I can ask around and see what other people think. Most (all?) vegans I know eat yeast without a dash of remorse. Read my response to find out why or add your own response to Todd here. 54 people have already shared their opinion. Add yours. What do you think? Can vegans eat yeast?
