I first tried this crunchy, ring-shaped cookie, made with olive oil, white wine, and anise seeds, while visiting my relatives in Velletri, a town near Rome.

They are great for breakfast, with a cappuccino, after dinner with a sweet dessert wine, or as a teatime snack.
