Two Comforting Chestnut Recipes for Cold Fall Days

The days are quickly growing shorter and colder, and chestnuts are beginning to appear in my local markets. I miss the days when I had a fireplace in which to roast them, but even without a fireplace, there are many other ways to enjoy chestnuts at home. If you can find pre-made chestnut flour (try an Italian import store or health-food market), you can use that, but if you have a food processor or mill, it's also very simple to buy chestnuts and make your own chestnut flour for use in the following recipes, or you can also order chestnut flour online.
