From Danette St. Onge, your Guide to Italian Food

Sometimes it's too hot to even turn on a stove, let alone preheat an oven (San Francisco just experienced a heat wave with extremely unusual temperatures of up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit!). Luckily, there are plenty of satisfying, yet refreshing Italian dishes that require no cooking.

Niçoise-Style Sandwiches (Pane alla nizzarda)

A quick and easy, no-cook Italian-French fusion recipe from Nice: baguette sandwiches filled with anchovies, tomatoes, and cucumbers and flavored with garlic, fresh basil, and olive oil. These are perfect for a picnic lunch or a finger-food appetizer.
