Exceptional Homemade Edible Gifts

Homepage

I've got them; you've got them. Yes, we have friends who have everything or in the very least can buy whatever they want, when they want it. I find that homemade gifts are much more appreciated. Below is a list of some of my favorite homemade gifts. If you have a favorite one, I'd love to hear about it. If you'd like, I could feature it in a future email. It's not a problem, if you don't want it shared either.

Got a friend who always uses a cake mix? Why not give them this homemade cake mix? Put it in a pretty jar and put a tag on it with the recipe to make the cake mix just like on the box version.

Canning Jar Cakes

If you've been one of my loyal email subscribers for a number of years, you'll already know about these amazing cakes. If you haven't... yes, the cakes are bake in the canning jars. After baking they are sealed just like canning a jam or jelly. They are shelf stable for quite sometime. I've eaten the cakes after they've been on the shelf for a year with no ill effect. Typically, they don't last that long.

Homemade Cookies

You just can't go wrong with giving cookies at this time of year. Either purchase one of those cute holiday-themed tins or a wicker basket lined with a Christmas napkin to hold the cookies. Some of the cookies I like to give (and get!) are:

Sweet and Salty Fudge
Oh Fudge! Deep, Dark and Salty

For several years, I gave homemade fudge for teacher's gifts. I had the best time finding the best container to put them in. One year it was insulated tumblers. Another year it was Chinese take-away boxes.

Sugared Nuts

This is the gift my daughter is giving this year. It can be expensive to purchase the nuts, but if you shop the sales you could be ok.
Sugar Pecans
Butter Salted Nuts are really good too!

Packaging Your Homemade Edible Gifts

Sometimes I'm not sure which came first the chicken or the egg. It's the same way with giving edible gifts. Sometimes I buy the containers and then decide what to make.
