New this week: dried persimmons and a Japanese "old-school" porridge made with leftover turkey. Also, if you missed my collection of favorite fall Japanese recipes, give that a 'look-see'! Finally, if you haven't done so, connect with me via social media, I'm on Facebook, Pinterest, Google+, and Twitter!

Dried Hachiya Persimmons
Dried Hachiya persimmons (hoshigaki) can easily be made at home by hanging them in the sun. It's a great way to enjoy the otherwise astringent (shibugaki) persimmons.

Turkey Rice Porridge (Okayu)
Turkey rice porridge, or okayu is a thick, flavorful Japanese porridge and perfect for using leftover Thanksgiving turkey.
